thanks to Napoleon's Codification all European citizens have a surname now. as it was compulsory, many opted for a sometimes frustratingly silly one! on a more serious note: there's much that can't be said of Napoleon objectively, since it would undermine so much of the Congress of Viennna (1814-5) and the subsequent consolidation of power by Europe's most powerful families and it's therefore very speculative making a movie about him.
