On May 20th at the Mecklenburg County Courthouse, Diana Cojocari, 39, mother of missing 13 year-old girl, Madalina Cojocari, pled guilty to failure to report a child' disappearance to law enforcement.
On May 20th at the Mecklenburg County Courthouse, Diana Cojocari, 39, the mother of missing 13 year-old girl, Madalina Cojocari, pled guilty to the Class 1 felony failure to report a child’s disappearance to law enforcement.
Madalina Cojocari, 11, was "last seen on surveillance video getting off her school bus outside her home in Cornelius, North Carolina, on November 21, 2022, and has not been seen since. She was reported missing to her school on December 15, 2022. Her parents reported last seeing her on November 23, 2022. Madalina was last seen wearing jeans, pink, purple and white Adidas shoes, and a white t-shirt and jacket," according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
I went to the Mecklenburg County Courthouse on Monday to get the files which pertained to the Diana Cojocari and Christopher Palmiter case. I was informed by the criminal records access clerk that the courthouse had switched to an “Odyssey” digital access system in October of 2023. I was consequently referred to the website to access the digital access criminal records at nccourts.gov/services with the case number (22CR366223-590 and 22CR366540-590).
The pleas transcript arrangement stated that the “defendant [is] changing her plea to guilty without a plea agreement.”
Diana Cojocari was represented by Daniel Powers Roberts, who was appointed by the court, while the state was represented by Noal Austin Butler.
Cojocari was given 17 months and 10 days of time served.
In January 2023, I went to Bailey Middle School to report on Madalina’s disappearance.
According to an eyewitness who was in the area at the time, between the hours of 8:00 AM EST and 9:30 AM EST, before Diana was arrested later in the morning, the mother of the still-missing Madalina was seen “burning something” in the backyard of her residence.
The FBI claims they want people to contact them with any new info. You can take their word for you if you wish, but it seems they are pretty busy infringing upon the rights of American citizens in a witchhunt.
Cornelius has a population of 31.412, according to the 2020 U.S. Census and is geographically located northeast of Charlotte as part of Mecklenberg County.
Madalina's first language is Romanian, but she speaks English fluently as well.
